JULY ISSUE
BIDS
The July bids will be out by July 23, 2006, for the next three bid cycles there will be two sets of bids each. The first group of bids will be the normal bid that goes into effect at the start of the following Pay period. The second group of bids will not go into affect until January of 2007.
The second group of bids is to go into affect when the 33 new clerks from Newark Facility are excessed here, which as of now is schedule for January of 2007. When you bid on one of these assignments, you will remain in you current position until January when the new assignment takes affect. You may bid all three times that bids come out; there is no lock in period on these bids.
The reason for having this second group of bids now is for the sole purpose of giving the current DVD employees, you, the opportunity to bid on the newly established bids prior to the excessed employees from the Newark Facility arriving.
There are still several employees from the SPBS and FSM that have not gotten a bid and remain unassigned, I am urging you to bid on a position when these bids come out. Management has informed the union that after this set of bids all unassigned regulars will be reassigned. At this time you may not be able to get the same days that you have now but I suggest that you bid for the tour that you want and then try to bid to your preferred rest days.
There are two expeditor jobs that are vacant, one on tour 1 and one on tour 3, the reason that theses bids have not been posted is that the two employees that held these bids have passed away and we are waiting for personnel to remove their names from the active list. These bids will go up as soon as the bids officially become vacant.
PERSONALS
We lost three employees. Bernice Bradley, Denise Nurkett, and William Smith were all good loyal union members and dedicated workers that will be missed. I ask that we all remember them in our prayers.
